In the nineteenth century, two neuroscientists, dr. Paul Broca and dr. Karl Wernicke discovered that people who had problems processing language often had damage in specific areas of the left side of the brain.

The researchers then concluded that these two areas were important for language processing, and announced to the world that this important ability is found on the left side of the brain.
